About us

We started by connecting teachers with people from professional practice. Today we learn from one another and explore how to do work that matters to us and is useful to others.

It started at school

Taťána Beránková Císařová, previously Šárovcová, is one of the people behind the beginnings of Učitelé z Marsu — Teachers from Mars. Táňa teaches economics and helps students develop an enterprising mindset: to bring their own ideas, try them in practice and take responsibility for them. She offers teachers the same opportunity — to explore changes in teaching together and learn from one another.

How we got here

  1. 2016–2017

Be in Karlín: opening school to the world

At Karlín Business Academy, Táňa worked with Pavel Fiala and other colleagues to organise Be in Karlín. The first conference, in April 2016, brought students, teachers, entrepreneurs and the public together around socially beneficial enterprise. In June 2017, Lázně Be in Karlín followed, focusing on new approaches to education, practical workshops and sharing experiences.

  2. 2017

Teachers from Mars: trying change together

Táňa is one of the founders of Teachers from Mars. In a 2017 interview, she describes teachers from different schools working together to prepare economics lessons. Rather than memorising definitions, students explore what it takes to launch a product in a three-day project about coffee. Economics connects with geography, languages and teamwork.

  3. 2019

    EVA at Heroldovy sady

At Heroldovy sady Business Academy, Táňa helped develop EVA — Ekonomická vzdělávací alternativa, an alternative economics education programme. Its first students enrolled in September 2019. Her collaboration with Tomáš Vavrda also began to develop around this time: he visited the school and joined the judging panels at its D-Day events.

  4. 2021

    Teaching entrepreneurship together

The first year of the Entrepreneurship course began at Heroldovy sady Business Academy. Táňa and Tomáš gradually developed the course together and taught it in tandem, combining teaching experience with business practice.

  5. 2024

    A new chapter with Tomáš

Táňa joined Advantage Solutions. Together with Tomáš Vavrda, she revived Teachers from Mars, building on the original idea: teachers and professionals can support one another when they have space to meet, learn from one another and try new things.

  6. 2026

    Adaptivio launches

Adaptivio launched in 2026. Táňa and Tomáš bring together their experience in education, entrepreneurship and working with teams. Z Marsu builds on the Teachers from Mars community, opening its meetups, conversations and opportunities to learn from one another to people from other fields. Since reviving the Teachers from Mars community in 2024, we had organised 17 meetups, both in person and online, by early October 2026.

What we’re trying today

Education remains a shared interest, but our conversations go further. We’re curious about what people try at school, at work and in their own projects. At meetups and in our online community, we share experiences and learn from what others are trying. In our podcasts, we ask what works, what didn’t go to plan and what we can learn from it.

A conversation with Teachers from Mars

How and why should we help students develop an enterprising mindset?

Táňa and Tomáš, the first students of the EVA programme, and students and teachers from Prague’s Secondary Technical School of Transport discuss entrepreneurship, independence and student businesses. Prague Innovation Institute published the video in 2023.
